Setup
Exhibition in RIMA gallery, Belgrade, 2025.
In the exhibition Setup, Nina Ivanović presents wire drawings based on her long-term photographic archive of exhibition installations. Over more than a decade she has documented setups of both her own and others exhibitions, especially at U10 Art Space which she co-founded, capturing intimate behind-the-scenes moments usually hidden from public view. From this material, she creates delicate wire works that translate fleeting, physical labor into lasting visual narratives.
Excerpt from the text about the exhibition by Sanda Kalebić :
Nina’s works produce a visual narrative of the process in which an exhibition is made. They single out moments of collaboration, of group endeavours and unity – frequently some of the most beautiful moments in the entire process of the realisation of a show. As a member of an art collective in Belgrade which, at least in our conditions, has a lengthy continuity, Nina has had opportunities to observe directly the experience of collective activities at hundreds of exhibitions and thousands of moment that sublimate the essence of togetherness. Her archive, as well as the whole archive of U10, grown from closeness and participation, refers to formal collectives, informal groups and friendly networks of joint assistance spontaneously informed during the show setups. Through such direct engagement, new relationships are forged, a sense of belonging emerges, and a deeper understanding of the exhibition process unfolds—clearly reflected in Nina’s works, which grow out of her documentary photographs.
